Spingo is a unique range of powerful ales brewed at The Blue Anchor, 50 Coinagehall Street, Helston, Cornwall.
The Blue Anchor is a historic thatched pub, almost certainly the oldest brew-pub in the UK, originating as a monks' resting place in the 15th century. At a time when water was unsafe to drink, the inn naturally made ale for the monks and has continued to brew ever since. The remarkable

Spingo ales recall a time when ale was strong and cheap. The 'weakest' ale is more than five per cent alcohol and there are tales of a Christmas Special of eleven per cent that extended the holiday season by several days for those who imbibed it. It has now been toned down to a more manageable 7.6 per cent.
Visitors are normally welcome to visit both the ancient brewhouse across the back yard and the cellars where the finished beers are stored. Children are welcome in one room and live folk and jazz are played some evenings.
The Spingo range includes:
* Middle* ABV 5.0 %
* Best ABV 5.3%
* Special* ABV 6.6%
* Bragget (Town charter celebration ale - summer only)* ABV 6.0 %
* Xmas (& Easter) Special ABV 7.6%
